A True Miracle: Vertigo Relief After 20 Years
For 20 years, I have suffered from on-and-off bouts of vertigo, which was previously diagnosed as BPPV (crystals in the ear canals). I've learned to live with the spinning sensation, but two days ago, after a physical therapy session, I experienced an extremely severe episode that was debilitating. I happened to have an appointment with Dr. Eileen shortly after and mentioned the severe vertigo, fully expecting it to be the BPPV. To my absolute surprise, she was able to correct the problem on the spot. I learned that my Atlas—the first cervical vertebra—was rotated hard to the left, which was actually the root cause of this 'bout of vertigo. Dr. Eileen adjusted my Atlas, and the vertigo was instantly gone, like a miracle. While I have BPPV, I now understand that a misaligned Atlas can also cause or contribute to vertigo, often resulting from incidents like car wrecks, skiing accidents, or, in my case, something related to physical therapy (user error). This discovery was a game-changer. IMPORTANT! Chiropractic manipulation can correct a misalignment of the Atlas, whereas BPPV primarily requires the Epley maneuver either at home or from a certified physical therapist. Because of my BPPV diagnosis, I never expected a chiropractor to be able to help me. If you suffer from vertigo, I highly recommend having Dr. Eileen check your alignment. Even if you have BPPV, an Atlas adjustment (when needed) can provide substantial relief from your symptoms. Just my theory after dealing with the spins for decades. I've never felt so "grounded". When I used to go to the chiropractor, I came with a list of everything that hurt and needed fixed. With Dr. E; I don't need to make a list. She miraculously finds and fixes.....even things I didn't know were bothering me. YES! (April, 2024)
So thankful that we met at our scheduled appt today. My condition from my denver trip, Tuesday and Wednesday, caused my pain level 8 symptoms in my left hip. As well as additional tightening in my neck. What has been receding to the posterior of s1/c1, now has flooded back downward. You agreed that the extended hours of sitting for my trip, were not good for me. Pain in my left hip region was at level 10 when i got back from the 425 mile trip, yesterday. Thankfully i had some pain meds on hand. Took two, and an Ambien and was able to get some sleep. When i awoke, pain was a bit over 5, before i got out of bed. Within minutes of being on my feet, back at level 8, constant. At noon, i took another pain pill, and laid down until our appt. I was unable to work because of the pain. Early in our session, relief came flooding in, thankfully. When i left, there was a residual hot spot at the front of the iliac crest. I have been sitting upright for 30 minutes. I notice that the "hot" spot is not smoldering anymore. I am going to do some of the hip flexor stretches that you have me do, on your bench. I have a precession massage machine, much like yours. I'll let you know how i do. ~ September 2023 (paraphrased)
I could not sing enough praise for Dr. Macfarlane's practice even if I wanted to. Every aspect of my experience with Two Rivers Chiropractic has been nothing but the healing one dreams of. As someone who likes to test the limits of my body, I tend to frequently find myself out of line but without understanding of why I'm feeling the way I do. Every time I leave Dr. Eileen's office I not only walk away with an amazing adjustment, but most importantly - I leave with new knowledge about how my body works and how to better take care of myself moving forward. I have seen 10+ different chiropractors throughout my lifetime and wouldn't even consider them in the same league as this practice. Thanks so much for the incredible healing that you offer, Dr. Eileen and Two Rivers Chiropractic crew! ~ Summer 2023
